Heard has been spotted living her life in quite a different way after the trial loss…
She’s now spending her time hunting for the bargains we all love.
Scroll on to find out more…
Now, for the last couple of years, Johnny Depp has undergone a lot of stress.
The Kentucky-born actor, who has been renowned in Hollywood since the 1990s, has been embroiled in a highly publicized domestic abuse scandal with his ex-girlfriend, Amber Heard, for the last 5 years.
At first, this coupling seemed to be at the start of a promising relationship.
After meeting on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011, the actor started dating Texan actress and model, Amber Heard, shortly after calling it quits with his long-term partner, Vanessa Paradis.
They announced their engagement in 2014…
And, not ones to waste any time, they hastily tied the knot just one year later in February 2015.
However, it was here when things started to go a little ship-shaped.
Their honeymoon period was rather short-lived as, just months after their marriage, Depp reportedly suffered a hand injury as a result of “smashing bottles and windows” during a heated argument with his wife.
For the next year, various reports of abuse between the pair continued to surface…
So it came as no shock when Heard filed for divorce in March 2016, just fifteen months after the couple had initially exchanged their “I do”s.
At first, the divorce seemed unsuspicious…
Many news outlets reported that Heard had cited “irreconcilable differences” while filing the divorce petition.
But, only a few months into their separation…
Heard filed a restraining order against Depp, claiming that he had previously assaulted her.
It was a big allegation to make…
So people were confused when Heard retracted her allegations just one day before the hearing was due to be held.
But this didn’t stop the world from turning against Depp.
Heard had alleged that the actor had hit her on several occasions, and even provided video footage of him flinging a glass of wine across the room in a fit of rage.
And, in 2018, the actress penned an article for The Washington Post where she opened up about her experience with domestic abuse and violence.
Though she didn’t explicitly name Depp in her op-ed, she did allude to the time period when, “two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”
There was an outpour of support for Heard…
Who was even made the American Civil Liberties Union’s “Ambassador for Women’s Issues.”
And, despite profusely denying all the allegations against him…
Depp found his career taking a hit as a result of the ongoing scandal.
Fewer and fewer directors were hiring Depp for roles…
And his appearance in J.K Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts sequel, The Crimes of Grindelwald, was heavily criticized.
And, in 2018, he was dropped from his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
In a career-shattering announcement just 4 days after Heard’s damning article, Disney announced that the actor would no longer be a part of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Though they didn’t directly cite Heard’s abuse allegations…
It was widely assumed that Disney, who has earned over $4.5 billion at the box office from the Pirates franchise, was trying to distance themselves from the actor and the scandal surrounding him.
But then, there was a sudden change in events.
Depp filed a $50-million defamation case against Heard and presented evidence that he was the one on the receiving end of the abuse, not the other way around.
Shockingly, the actor alleged that he was the victim all along.
Depp’s defamation lawsuit read: “The op-ed [Heard’s article] depended on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.”
The lawsuit also stated that all of Heard’s claims were “categorically and demonstrably false”…
And listed down incidents of Heard’s alleged abuse since the start of their marriage, including punching and kicking, as well as staging her attacks.
The allegations are difficult to read.
“She hit, punched, and kicked me. She also repeatedly and frequently threw objects into my body and head, including heavy bottles, soda cans, burning candles, television remote controls, and paint thinner cans, which severely injured me.” His lawsuit read.
And, to tarnish the actress’ reputation and credibility even further…
Audio obtained by the Daily Mail was released that heard her admitting to attacking Depp.
As per the audio clip, she could also be heard taunting him…
“You are such a baby. Grow the f*** up, Johnny. You poke an animal enough, it is eventually, it doesn’t matter how friendly it is, it’s not cool,” Heard can be heard saying.
The case was grueling…
Depp then went to court for his libel case against The Sun newspaper – whom he is suing over a 2018 article in which he was described as a “wife-beater.”
The pair were in court as part of the 3-week long trial.
While in court, both parties played pretty dirty, revealing compromising photographs of each other which have blown everything out of the water, yet again. And of course with the evidence came more allegations.
But things didn’t go Depp’s way…
And he lost the case.
Of course, this massive loss was terrible for the actor’s name…
But he isn’t giving up his fight.
Depp and his legal team were determined to prove that the pictures Heard shared in the case were forged…
To make it look like he was repeatedly abusing her, when in fact, according to Depp it was the other way around.
As per Page Six, lawyers working on the case claim that Heard altered photos making her appear to have 2 black eyes…
Alleging she was attacked by him in 2015.
Depp’s lawyer, Benjamin Chew claimed: “Ms. Heard’s counsel has repeatedly used these phony photographs at deposition.”
He also shared that he believes the LA Police Department “disavowed the photographs” that were previously given to the court and “did not depict what they saw.”
Chew revealed that the LAPD “found no injury upon Ms. Heard and no disruption to the penthouses” upon inspection…
“Ms. Heard and her friends then fabricated photos that she used to obtain an ex parte TRO [temporary restraining order] and a $7 million divorce settlement which Ms. Heard falsely testified in London she gave to the ACLU and, more scandalously, to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles; sick children with cancer,” he added.
Chew concluded that someone “doctored those photographs.”
“So, Ms. Heard or someone on her behalf doctored those photographs three years later. When that came up in her testimony in London, Ms. Heard falsely denied it. In short, Your Honour, without forensic imaging Mr Neumeister cannot properly assess or verify Ms. Heard’s data,” Chew added.
Since Chew exposed Heard’s alleged false claims, the court granted Depp and his lawyers access to her phone records…
They were also analyzed by Brian Neumeister, who is a tech expert.
And, we’ve seen some huge celebrity names in the defamation case between the two actors.
But, it’s not the first time that some of the names have been a part of the escalating battle.
Two of the celebrities involved, have in fact been accused of being tangled up in an affair with Heard in the past…
While she was with Depp.
The celebrities who were accused of affairs with the Aquaman actress, are James Franco and Elon Musk.
Although neither celebrity figures testified for Amber Heard.
But, they’re not the only huge Hollywood names in the lawsuit.
There are many more who were dragged into the defamation case, too.
Paul Bettany’s texts with Depp were shared with the court.
Which displayed violent language targeted at Heard.
Heard’s exhibit list includes names we’re all familiar with…
There were text messages and email conversations between Heard, Jason Momoa, and James Wan.
Ellen Barkin was also on Heard’s witness list, and she has spoken up about Heard’s allegations in the past.
“Amber Heard was never enough of a victim,” she wrote.
“And we never will be… Unless we’re dead,” she continued.
Depp sued Heard for defamation, claiming that his reputation has been tarnished because of the things she has said during their battle.
And Heard countersued him, which is why so many big names have been dragged into the case, as well.
Now, since the case began, a lot of people have taken to the stand…
And on April 19th, it was Depp’s turn.
Depp took to the stand where he discussed standing up for his children and denied striking Heard in any way.
And people rallied in support of the actor.
Depp took to the stand at Fairfax County courthouse where he described Heard’s claims as “heinous and disturbing,” LADbible reports.
He said that her allegations were “criminal acts against me that were not based in any species of truth.”
Depp went on to deny striking Heard and any woman in his life.
“Never did I myself reach the point of striking Miss Heard in anyway, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life,” he told the court. “Since I knew there was no truth to it whatsoever, I felt it my responsibility to stand up, not only for myself in that instance, but stand up for my children.”
Depp then further detailed the effect that the allegations had on his children.
“I thought it was diabolical that my children would have to go to school and have their friends or people in the school approach them with the infamous People Magazine cover with Miss Heard with a dark bruise on her face,” he said.
Describing himself as a “very private person,” the actor said that for him “to come up here and sit before you all and spill the truth is quite exposing, and it’s unfortunate that it’s not only exposing for myself, it’s exposing for my family, it’s exposing for Miss Heard, it never had to go in this direction.”
He also added that his goal is “the truth” and that he isn’t embarrassed because “I know I’m doing the right thing.”
Depp returned to the stand where he revealed more about his time spent with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
There have been admissions about his severed finger, audio recordings of fights, and text messages revealing horrific desires.
Depp took to the stand for his final testimony on Tuesday 26, and he got a lot of support online.
A petition, that was set up back in 2019, gained popularity again following Depp’s testimony.
And people had a lot to say about it…
“My dad says he tried to watch Aquaman but couldn’t get through 15 minutes of it because of Amber Heard’s atrocious acting and the terrible dialogue. He genuinely cannot understand why Amber is still in those movies,” one person wrote.
“Remember to boycott Aquaman 2. If Jason Momoa wants Amber Heard in the movie & fought so hard to have her in it, then it deserves to tank! Let’s tank it together,” another person wrote.
“Jason Momoa got $15M for Aquaman Amber Heard got $2M but yes. Tell me more about how Amber Heard is comparable to Gal Gadot or Zendaya and worth $100M,” another user noted.
The petition, on Change.org, was started in December 2019, shortly after Depp sued Heard over her op-ed.
It is titled “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2,” and has gained huge support online…
The petition reads: “Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit.
“Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached.
“He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life.”
“Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard.
“Since Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser,” creator of the petition, Jeanne Larson, wrote.
The petition continued on explaining the picture Heard has painted of Depp.
“About the incident during which she shattered the bones in Johnny Depp’s finger and nearly severed it, causing Depp to require surgery to reattach and repair it, Heard presented a false story claiming that he cut off his finger himself, dipped it in paint and scrawled obscenities all over the walls.
“Likewise, Heard recounts fabricated incidents of Johnny Depp hitting her in the face when she had, in fact, punched him. Though staff and neighbors in the building where she lived reported seeing no marks on her face in the hours and days after she says Johnny Depp hit her, she appeared in court six (6) days later with bruises on her face, asking for a temporary restraining order, which was granted,” it stated.
“Photos of Heard from the very next day show her full face, without makeup, and not a single bruise.
“As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard’s victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser,” the creator wrote.
“Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.”
“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
Many have shared the petition on social media…
And as a result, it has now reached its goal.
The petition passed over 4.5 million signatures on the website.
But now, there’s a new goal…
The petition is now aiming to reach 6,000,000 signatures.
It doesn’t look like there’s going to be an end to people signing the petition anytime soon, either.
But, in the world of Aquaman, Warner Bro’s hasn’t spoken out about Heard’s removal.
Although her role as Mera in the film has been cut shorter, she will still be set to appear in the film. Her attorney blamed the amount of time Heard will now appear in the film on Depp’s “smear campaign” against her.
Many people have had an issue with the fact Depp was removed from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but Heard wasn’t removed from Aquaman...
“Pretty god damn ridiculous that Amber Heard is still scheduled to be in Aquaman 2 after being proven to be the abuser, while Johnny was removed from his movie by the same company for a false claim. But yeah male privilege and patriarchy and shit right,” somebody said on Twitter.
“Amber Heard is still in Aquaman 2 & is getting a book deal? I don’t even know how to process this BS,” another person wrote.
“I don’t care how much screentime she has. I don’t care how many lines she has. I don’t care how often she appears in the movie. If Amber Heard is in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, I refuse to watch it,” said somebody else.
Now, Amber Heard is speaking out.
Sitting down for an exclusive interview with Savannah Guthrie of NBC News, the star spoke out for the first time against the trial verdict.
Heard passionately stated that the involvement of social media throughout the trial was ‘not fair’.
“Even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t tell me — look me in the eye and tell me — that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation,” Heard said during the interview, as per TODAY. “You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”
When asked about the jury not believing her testimony and the evidence provided, Heard let out her confusion, but also gave surprising empathy for the jury.
“I don’t blame them. I understand. I actually understand. He’s a beloved character, and people feel they know him,” Heard continued. “He’s a fantastic actor.”
But, the jury isn’t the only people she’s mentioned in her interview because she quickly came under fire for slamming those who testified for Depp.
Talking of the people who testified for Depp, she said that they were “randos.”
Many people took to social media almost immediately after…
“Amber Heard calling witnesses including Kate Moss randos is the funniest and most offensive sh*t I saw today. You are not helping yourself here,” one person said.
“‘How could they make a judgment?’ That is what they were there for amber? Do you not know how that works?” somebody else questioned sarcastically.
“Amber Heard: ‘I heard that JD pushed Kate Moss down the stairs’ Kate Moss: ‘That never happened’ Amber Heard: ‘what’s with all these randos? Why’d she testify?’” somebody else joked.
In the interview, Heard talked about the fact the jury didn’t believe her…
In a preview of the interview, NBC News‘ Guthrie said: “The jury looked at the evidence you presented, they listened to your testimony and they did not believe you. They thought you were lying.”
Heard made it clear in her response that she thinks Depp’s acting was the reason she lost…
Heard said of the jurors: “How could they make a judgment? How could they not come to that conclusion? They had sat in those seats and heard over three weeks of nonstop, relentless testimony from paid employees and towards the end of trial, randos, as I say.”
Savannah also brought up the First Amendment, a right Heard believes she lost as a result of the verdict.
“Here’s the thing about the First Amendment: The First Amendment protects free speech. It doesn’t protect lies that amount to defamation, and that was the issue in the case,” Savannah told Heard.
“And that’s all I spoke. And I spoke it to power,” Heard replied.
“And I paid the price.”
In the first half of the interview Heard has stated that “To my dying day (I) will stand by every word of my testimony.”
Speaking to Heard, Savannah brought up some of the audio recordings used against her in the trial, “I am looking at a transcript that says — he says, ‘You start physical fights,’ And you say, ‘I did start a physical fight. I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again,’” Savannah said, adding: “This is in black and white. I understand context. But you’re testifying, and you’re telling me today, ‘I never started a physical fight,’ and here you are on tape saying you did.”
Amber replied: “As I testified on the stand about this, is that when your life is at risk, not only will you take the blame for things that you shouldn’t take the blame for.
“But when you’re in an abusive dynamic, psychologically, emotionally and physically, you don’t have the resources that, say, you or I do, with the luxury of saying, ‘Hey, this is black and white,’” she replied.
“Because it’s anything but when you’re living in it.”
Savannah then said: “You’re testifying and you’re telling me today, ‘I never started a physical fight,’ and here you are on tape saying you did.”
Heard replies, telling her that “20-second clips or the transcripts of them are not representative of the two or three hours [they] are an excerpt from.”
You can watch the clip here.
Heard has also explained how she felt throughout the trial…
Saying that she felt “less than human.”
“Every single day I passed 3, 4, sometimes 6 blocks, city blocks lined with people holding signs saying ‘burn the witch’ or ‘death to Amber,’” she said in the interview.
“After 3 and a half weeks I took to the stand and saw just a courtroom packed full of Captain Jack Sparrow fans,” she continued. The actress then said that the fans were “vocal” and “energized.”
Savannah then asked if she could put her feelings into words…
Heard responded: “It was the most humiliating and horrible thing I have ever been through. I have never felt more removed from my own humanity. I felt less than human.”
Although some sympathized with the actress saying that they “can imagine” what she went through… Most people just did not agree.
“You were laughing when Johnny was talking about the things you put him through. You don’t know what humanity is,” one person wrote.
Experts think that her interview could actually result in another lawsuit…
That would make it the thirty-six-year-old’s third lawsuit she’s been embroiled in… If it did come to that.
As we’ve heard the actress say that Depp “lied” on the stand when he said that he never hit her, an expert has said that this can call for another lawsuit.
Talking to the Daily Mail, an entertainment lawyer, Nicole Haff, has said that the interview “could count as a new publication” under the “law.”
But, the expert doesn’t think it is an idea that would be advised…
“Heard’s lawyers have already stated that she cannot pay the original judgment,” she said, meaning that a third go-around would just be made even more difficult.
But people are talking about something a little different now…
Heard admitted that she “loves” Johnny Depp.
“Absolutely. I love him. I loved him with all my heart,” Heard told Guthrie.
“I have no bad feelings or ill will toward him at all.”
And it seems she will be spilling everything in a “tell-all book.”
An insider spoke to OK! Magazine, and said: “Amber considers her career in Hollywood over. She’s already in talks and is excited about it.”
The source also stated that she was “broke” and not “in a position to turn down money.”
Adding that she “considers her career in Hollywood over” and “has nothing to lose.”
And with that, we’ve actually seen a little bit of her life since the trial loss as she was spotted hunting for bargains…
But, even with people still rallying behind Depp, social media users have spoken out against the invasion of Heard’s privacy.
“Y’all need to leave this woman alone. She’s going through enough as it is,” one person wrote.
“Um, I am no fan, but this is low even for TMZ. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with shopping at TJ Maxx,” somebody else said.
But other people assumed that it was a “publicity stunt.”
“You know damn well she called TMZ to let her know exactly where she would be same with what she did for the UK trial lol,” a person wrote on Twitter.
The speculations continued…
One person expressed: “She totally called TMZ so people would see her shopping at a store that she would consider beneath her. You don’t see her telling them to leave her alone, do you?”
According to the news outlet, when the actress noticed she was being filmed, she “scrammed.”
TJ Maxx is very popular among many people around the world…
In fact, the annual revenue for the company in 2022 was $48.55 billion, as per Mactrotrends.
But, you don’t necessarily see celebrities shopping around the racks, and if they do, many think they’d do it online, instead of in-store.
However, Heard looked pretty content there.
In the video, she could be seen browsing before she looked up at the camera, and began to walk away.
You can watch the video here.
What do you think about this?
